I like her poem because she was talking about her childhood as a black girl growing up. all the good and the bad that she went through and she says, now that she is famous she doesn't want anyone to say that she wasn't happy when she was growing up because she was. Also she doesn't want people talking about her because she loves her life no matter what went on in it through the thick and thin she will always be satisfied. Homework
ReplyDeleteIt tells about a black female / male, that dosen't have much but yet she's happy because she has her family. When she said that,"I really hope no white person ever has cause
ReplyDeleteto write about me because they never understand
Black love is Black wealth and they’ll probably talk about my hard childhood and never understand that all the while I was quite happy". It seems to me as she was trying to say that she was taken/or they tryed to take her away from her mom & Dad.
By Reading this poem , it made me realize that life is not easy and its better to worry about the positive than negative in life. As i read the words of Nikki Giovanni , she overcomes the obstacles of her getting through her issues. She loves her decent life , by cherishing every moment she has with her family because she believes everything she needs and cares for is right in front of her.and back then it was racism that was in the way of black rights so she feels like white will never understand the pain black go through and the love they share.
ReplyDeleteI like the fact Nikki talks about her childhood as a young black female who didnt have as much as the white folks, back in the days. She didnt state that she was unhappy and ungreatful about the things she did and didnt have,But yet she stated that she was quite happy. I believe that peole should be satisfied for what they can afford then to beg for something they cant.
ReplyDeleteI found this poem a little racist, I thought they were trying to say white people need more then love to survive which is very stereotypical, to think that just because someone is white we aren't grateful for the simple things in life. This maybe true in some cases but there are ignorant black people, that don't know what it it like to not have an indoor toilet. Ignorance comes in all races but beside the racial part of the poem I could relate to it, it made me feel for the person who this was about and I thought that was her point, to be relatable.
ReplyDeleteSome of the things that Nikki said in this poem was true like how she talked about an indivisual true feelings. I like it when she talked abot people thinking only about all the bad things that happened in a black girl life and not talk about how they really felt while growing up. When the black girl was growing up she was happy and liked spending time with her family, but know that she's famous people don't talk about that. They don't talk or ask about how good it was when she spent time with her mother or how much she liked spending time at home. I believe that she wrote this poem to inform people to ask more about people feelings and not think about all the bad stuff that went on in there life.
ReplyDeleteThe poem tells about a black person who is underprivalegded and is still happy with her life and family. "my hard childhood" she said proved that her way of life as a child wasnt easy. She accepted the fact that most white people had alot more opprotunities than she did. She made the best out of her opprotunies and she succeded with in her own standards.
ReplyDeleteIt tells about this black girl that doesnt have alot but loves her family and is happy. She wasnt ungreatful, she was thanful for everything she had. She made the best of what she had
ReplyDeleteI like this poem because it tells about her childood as a black person and the sruggles she had . she's saying that her childhood wasn't the best childhood ever but also wasn't the worst . she got time to spend with her family and even thought she didnt have alot of things to do because she was black she made her like good out of what she had and she accepted that .
